Tammany Trace Will Soon Extend Into Camp Salmen Nature Park

Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President, along with Mayor Freddy Drennan of Slidell, officials from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD), The Trace Foundation and Friends of Camp Salmen, broke ground today on the project to connect the Tammany Trace to Camp Salmen Nature Park.

“We have never been closer than we are at this moment to seeing this long-anticipated project come to life, and we are thrilled,” said Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President. “All of our hard work is paying off. We are looking forward to connecting all of Slidell to the Tammany Trace, and eventually, connecting all the way through to Heritage Park. This is an exciting day.”

The extension will span 1.5 miles from the end of the Tammany Trace at Neslo Road, and culminate where Melody Drive connects to Camp Salmen Nature Park on Parish Parkway. The estimated cost for the project is $649,510.95.A portion of this cost is funded through a grant award in the amount of: $360,551.24. The projected timeline estimates completion by fall of 2018, barring any unforeseen delays.
