Camp Monarch Spring Promotion

Camp Salmen Nature Park- 2017 Spring Projects

 

Completed-Saturday, MARCH 18, 2017:

Meet at the pavilion at 9am. Please bring your own water/snacks/tools/work gloves/ notebooks.  

                                                     Goals for the day:  

1) Prepare the area for the new official Monarch WayStation Garden- first, measure out beds, apply weed barrier and staples to hold in place. Turn soil, add amendments, cover bed with pine straw.

 2) Bio-BLITZ!  (First of 5 planned for 2017)  Enjoy the day by hiking trails and documenting the various      wildlife you see--birds, butterflies, bugs, plants, frogs, snakes, turtles, etc.

Meet at the pavilion at 9am. Please bring your own water/snacks/tools/work gloves/notebooks.        

                                                                Goals for the day:  

1) PLANT THE GARDEN! Plant, water, and admire the specially selected plants to attract butterflies.

2) Bio-BLITZ! (Second of 5 planned for 2017)  Enjoy the day by hiking trails and documenting the various                              wildlife you see--birds, butterflies, bugs, plants, frogs, snakes, turtles, etc.

 

Completed Saturday, MAY 13, 2017 

THE BIG EVENT-   "Nature Celebration!"

 Meet at the pavilion at 9:30 am.  Please bring your water/snacks/notebooks.                                                       

                                                                   Goals for the day:   

1) Present the completed Monarch garden, "Camp Monarch" to the public!   Come one, come all!  Bring your picnic lunch, enjoy the day and "Chat with the Nature Experts!"  10 am to 3 pm.  Butterfly release at 1:30

2) Bio-BLITZ! ( Third of 5 planned for 2017) Enjoy your day hiking trails and documenting the various  wildlife you see--birds, butterflies, bugs, plants, frogs, snakes, turtles, etc.
